Shambhala Art Teachers’ Training Parts 1-3 only 2012

Program Date: January 10-12, 2012 (Dates subject to change).     9:30AM-5:30PM each day.

Due to the very brief nature of this teachers’ training, significant advanced preparation is required (see requirements below). The Shambhala Art Program is not re-taught during this 3 day training. Therefore, if you have not kept up with the changes in the program, or completed the Shambhala Art Program more than three years ago, please consider attending the preceding Shambhala Art Intensive. The Teachers Training will, in large part, consist of each participant making three to four brief presentations on what is taught during parts 1-3.

Requirements:

1. Membership in Shambhala Meditation Center.
2. Experience teaching, and or having successfully completed other teacher trainings.
3. A connection to the arts as an artist, aspiring artist, teacher, student, curator, collector, lover of art, etc.
4. Completed the five-part Shambhala Art Program.
5. Completed a Weekthun (required for authorization as an Assistant Teacher) or a Dathun (required for authorization as a Teacher of Parts 1-3).
6. Preference is given to authorized Shambhala-Buddhist Meditation Instructors, or Shambhala Guides, or individuals committed to becoming one.
8. Study experience: A strong familiarity with the Dharma Art Teachings as found in Volume 7 of the Complete Works of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, or in True Perception by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche.
9. Preference is given to those on track for Shambhala’s Sutrayana Seminary.

Note: All new Shambhala Art teachers will be required to serve an apprenticeship.

Price: (Tentative Pricing) $325US and $275US for members of the Los Angeles Shambhala Meditation Center, seniors 65+, and full-time students. (If you wish to also attend the Shambhala Art Intensive before this program and if there is space available you do so for the discounted price of $345)

Application forms to be posted 9 months prior to the program date. On approval of your application and receipt of your deposit you will be e-mailed a sourcebook and reading list. Note: If you are flying in from out-of-town, we highly recommend Burbank airport, over LAX.  The Los Angeles Shambhala Center is actually in Eagle Rock which is on the eastern edge of Los Angeles and LAX is on the western edge of Los Angeles some thirty miles away.
