Shambhala Art can be seen as a process, a product, and an arts education program.  As a process, it brings wakefulness and awareness to the creative and viewing processes through the integration of contemplation and meditation.  As a product, it is art that wakes people up. Shambhala Art is also an international non-profit arts education program based on the Dharma Art teachings of the late Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, the founder of Shambhala Buddhism, Shambhala International, and Naropa Institute.  Shambhala Art is a division of Shambhala and is presided over by his son and heir, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. This program is taught by trained and authorized Shambhala Art teachers.

2020 Shambhala Art Five-Part Intensive

Shambhala Art is about how we create and view each moment, our environments, and the artistry of life itself. Seeing through our own projections, biases, strategies and conditioning, it is possible to see clearly and directly. We call that “Square One,” a fresh starting point.

All of us can rediscover and develop our innate ability to create and view through the gentle discipline of meditation and meditation in action to arrive at Square One. From there we can then extend our senses out, and experience and appreciate the world as it is; relating to our expressions and our world with clarity, insight, and playfulness.

The five-part intensive is an opportunity to work with these teachings in a deep way through a supportive environment. Our days will include meditation, creative and group processes, discussion, and time for contemplation. These processes help to unlock a non-conceptual expression that is available to all, artist and non-artist alike.

At the completion of the intensive, participants will receive the Shambhala Art graduate pin and connection to the worldwide group of individuals working with these teachings.

There are no prerequisites for this intensive — professional, personal, or otherwise. Registration is available through the Shambhala Art website or through Eventbrite. We look forward to having you join us!
